位於望安島鴛鴦窟的東方約五百公尺的海中，因遠眺似馬鞍而得名。本島由兩個岩塊所構成，北岩塊在其兩玄武岩層中，夾有一火山角礫岩；南岩塊的柱狀板狀玄武岩發達，有因風化及侵蝕後形成的數支巨大海蝕柱，島上球狀風化的景觀十分普遍，西北開口處有一片小小沙灘，在南邊玄武岩層殘留有文石廢坑。
