根據澎湖縣政府所調查的澎湖縣島嶼調查的資料中，顯示該島嶼為陸連島，所以沒有列記在澎湖縣90座島嶼之中。
但是當你仔細閱讀澎湖縣政府島嶼成果報告書的資料時，你卻發現在資料中有船帆嶼一詞
那麼船帆嶼到底算不算澎湖群島中的一座島嶼呢？
針對這一部份，沿著菊島旅行網站在經過研究與查證後，並且打電話到澎湖縣政府負責此一業務的人討論後，得到以下幾個結論：
1.澎湖縣政府於94年公布的島嶼成果報告書中所謂的船帆嶼是指過去大家認定的船帆嶼礁，而不是目前網頁中所呈現的船帆嶼。
2.目前網頁呈現的船帆嶼照片與資料並不在澎湖縣政府所調查的90座島嶼的數量之一。
3.縣政府的研究報告是根據內政部臺灣地區地名查詢系統建置計畫中所定義的地名進行研究，在內政部的資料沒有更新以前，縣政府對於船帆嶼的資料還是不能改變（也就是說，目前是因為內政部的建置資料有問題）
