望安島綠蠵龜生態保護區
- 當綠蠵龜重新回到澎湖群島：
- 1994年，第一隻嵌上衛星追蹤器的綠蠵龜「望安一號」從望安島向北游去，望安島透過綠蠵龜的保育聲名和世界接軌，從此有比「蜜月島」更響亮的名號，人們管它叫做「綠蠵龜的故鄉」。
望安島綠蠵龜保育中心
- 綠蠵龜在台灣西部沙岸早年時有所見，過去幾年因生態環境改變導致芳蹤渺渺，澎湖在幾十年前各處沙灘也都有綠蠵龜上岸產卵的訊息，綠蠵龜對澎湖人來說並不陌生也不覺得特別注意。然而生態的改變卻在不知不覺中帶走了綠蠵龜的身影，澎湖也同樣經歷過許久一段時間沒有牠上岸的消息，直到1990年代，望安島捎來了喜訊，於是綠蠵龜的保育開始成為澎湖生態的顯學。
- 繼望安島在1990年代出現綠蠵龜重新迴游上岸產卵後，1999年在本島的山水沙灘、隘門沙灘、甚至西嶼的沙灘都陸續發現綠蠵龜上岸產卵的消息，似乎澎湖這沙灘之島慢慢由重新取得綠蠵龜的信任，因為牠們對於產卵棲息地的生態敏感度是如此的嚴苛又敏銳。
- 話說「望安一號」1994年從望安離開後去了哪裡呢？衛星追蹤器不斷發出訊息確認牠的玩興，牠先到淡水河邊吃了魚丸湯跟阿給，然後就一路北上到日本九州去賞楓吃壽司，一直到1997年，歷經三千多公里長征的「望安一號」重回望安島產卵。接著望安二號、三號相繼出發，也相繼選擇回到了望安島孕育下一代。

- 這麼歹命！！CD！望安島有幾處沙灘為了保護綠蠵龜上岸產卵的不被驚擾，所以劃分為綠蠵龜保育區，晚上8點過後一般民眾如要進入保育區內必須事先提出申請，非經申請進入保育區內的民眾會被丟到海裡！喔！是被依法取締啦！
- 望安島上的綠蠵龜保育中心每天晚上有綠蠵龜介紹的課程，如當晚剛好有綠蠵龜上岸產卵的話，中心人員便會帶領遊客到沙灘上去一親芳澤，站友如在望安過夜可以充分利用這項服務。
